When off Stromboli we lost our jury foremast in a white squall, and signalled to the Thalia frigate to take us in tow. When we arrived at the Bay of Naples Sir William and Lady Hamilton came on board to congratulate the admiral on his success. When we anchored, the bay was covered with boats crowded with people, who cheered us heartily. The admiral went on shore with them, and was enthusiastically received by tens of thousands of people. We were now very busy refilling the ship, repairing the foremast, and other damages received in the white squall.
